Only 9 Days

As of today, we only have 9 more days before we go back to Texas. I am very sad, but excited to get back home. Today, we had 2 short lectures in the morning. Then we had a seminar speaker named Frederik Accoe from VCM: the Flemish Coordination Center for Manure Processing. The title of his speech was Manure Processing in Flanders: An Overview. He was very interesting. For lunch I had a bag of Paprika baked Lays, a sandwich roll, and some Simpson cookies. Then later in the afternoon, I had a Cola Light to get me through the day. During the lunch break, I stayed and graded homework assignments for Dr. Engler's class. Today, Dr. Engler gave us a homework assignment in the morning and our LAST homework assignment in the afternoon. Dr. Munster gave us a really hard homework assignment about storm hydrographs. We had to use Microsoft Excel and it took forever.

I left school about 4:30 after Dr. Engler finished his second lecture about septic tanks, and we finished our second homework assignment for the day. Then I headed to the Standard, a bookstore close to our house. I was looking for a Nicholas Sparks book in English other than The Last Song, Dear John, or Three Weeks with my Brother. The only Nicholas Sparks book that they had was The Last Song. So I ended up getting a different novel and 3 postcards of Leuven. Then I rode to a chocolate shop about 10 minutes away on my bike. I bought a bunch of chocolates to take home to my family. My favorite chocolate is there. It is white chocolate with a hazelnut cream and rice crispies inside! It's amazing. Then I came back to the student house and met up with the girls to go eat dinner. I went to Del Sol with Nikki, Molly, Stephanie, Kirstin, and Val. I had a ham and cheese omelet. Kirstin and I split chips and salsa. I also had two Leffe Blond beers. It was delicious but it took forever. There were only 2 people who were taking orders and cooking all of the food. About 5 of our class mates went to a soccer game tonight. I am curious to see how it went. Today, during school we got 40 euros for food on our overnight field trip and 100 euros in a rebate from the cost of the program. It was another great surprise. Tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM the bus is leaving to go to Bruges. We are stopping several times and manure treatment facilities. We are staying in the Ibis hotel in Bruge and coming home on Friday after a walking tour of the city. We will be home on Friday around 4 PM. Today, Brad went to the post office and mailed 2 boxes of souvenirs home. It cost him 50 euros. Wow! I hope they get there soon.

After I finish this blog, I need to write my 1-2 page seminar and email it to Dr. Engler. Then I need to pack my backpack for our overnight field trip. Then I will take a shower and go to bed!! No going out for me tonight. Tomorrow morning is going to come way too early. As always, peace and love from Belgium. I miss and love all of my family and friends. Nine days is going to fly by! My next blog will probably be on Friday evening, including lots of pictures! I also hope I come home from the field trip with some beautiful lace from Bruges. XOXOXO Sabrina Louise
