Sports Bar and Grocery Shopping
Today was a pretty typical school day. I woke up a little before 7:30. I got dressed nice today for a change. I wore a nice sweater with a cami under it. The weather has been much nicer here. It's not near as hot anymore. Then I went downstairs to make a sandwich for lunch. My bread was FULL of mold. So I took all of my tomatoes, lunch meat, cheese, mayonaise, and lettuce up to Brad's kitchen on the 3rd floor (or 2 here) to use his bread. I tripped on the way up the stairs with all of that stuff. Brad only had little hoggie rolls left that wouldn't open up. So I ended up eating one of them for breakfast. Then we biked to school. We had a new student today join our classes. His name is Jacob and he is from Gent, Belgium. He is just starting work on his PhD. He already has a Masters degree in waste water treatment. I had a very hard time staying awake for the two lectures this morning. And it took me forever to bike to school because my legs were so sore from walking everywhere in Paris this weekend. For lunch I went to eat with Ann, Jake, Brad, Liz, and Jaime at the student sports bar. I had a ham, cheese, pesto, and tomato panini with a side salad. It was 3,70 euros. I had the waiter bring me tap water also. It was great food for a cheap price. Then we went back to school to do our homework problems. We finished both sets of homework shortly after 4:00. Then I went with Brad and Liz to DelHaize. It's a grocery store similar to HEB. Except the wine and beer section takes up the majority of the store. I really wanted grapes but they were sold out until tomorrow. So I ended up getting peaches and pears. I got two ham and cheese pre-made sandwiches. I got a box of Kellog's Loops honey, which I hope taste like Honey Nut Cheerios. I also got a package of waffles and a box of 6 ice cream cones. I got a chocolate donut for breakfast tomorrow. I also got an 8 pack of Cola Light sodas. The cans here are smaller because they go by mL instead of ounces. It's kind of depressing. I got Nature Baked Lays (natural or original flavor). I also had to buy a plastic bag because I couldn't fit everything in my backpack. My total was about 24 euros. It was much more expensive than Aldi. Brad helped me bike back here to the student house with the bags. I just ate one of the pre-made sandwiches and a peach. The peach is white inside and very sweet. The fruit is different here but it is very flavorful. I don't have any homeworks to grade tonight, although I probably should have stuck around and got all of them from Dr. Engler. I think most people finished and turned theirs in today. So, I guess I will be grading them tomorrow as well as writing my 1-2 page seminar report tomorrow evening. Tomorrow evening we also have a student/faculty dinner called "Welcome to Leuven" at Dynasty Wok. It is supposed to be all you can eat buffet. So I hope I like the food. Tonight I plan to research our trip to the beach on Wednesday and our trip to Munich on Friday. We have lots of details to work out still. Our first test is a week from tomorrow, on Tuesday. We are getting back from Munich on Monday. I hope we have ample time to study for our mid-terms. After this week we are going to be halfway done with the program. I am starting to finally get used to Belgium though. I really like it. I also hope to talk to my sister Kayla on Skype tonight if she can get her iPhone to quit acting up. I miss her. That's all for today! Hugs and kisses from Belgium. I am looking forward to being home and eating a huge plate of Mexican food and spending time with my parents again before the fall semester starts. No pictures today.... sorry. Love yall!
